1 to 1 Australian Migration

To be eligible for this visa you must invest at least AUD 2.5 million in Australian investments that meet certain requirements.

Key requirements of this stream include:

• Nomination by a State or Territory Government
• you directly managed one of the following:
  • a qualifying business in which you, your partner or you and your partner combined had at least 10% ownership interest, OR
  • an eligible investment:
    • Of at least AUD $2.5 million owned by you, your partner, or you and your partner combined
•  your partner or you and your partner combined have business and personal assets with a net value of at least AUD $2.5 million.
• make complying significant investment in Australia of AUD $2.5 million and hold this investment for the life of the provisional visa.
• have at least 3 years' experience managing one or more qualifying businesses or eligible investments
• have a successful record of eligible investment or qualifying business activity
• have demonstrated a high level of management skill in relation to the eligible investment or qualifying business activity
• You must score at least 65 points on the points test
• Under 55 years old (unless waived by nominator)
• Have functional English (or pay 2^nd VAC)
• Meet health and character requirement
• Not have a previous visa refusal or cancellation

This visa is granted for a period of 5 years with multiple entries. Post July 2021 changes you can apply for the permanent BIIP 188 visa after 3 years if certain requirements are met.  Post July 2021 you need to have physically resided in Australia for at least 2 years in the past 3 years to be eligible for permanency.

Complying Investment Framework (CIF)

All visa applicants for the Investor and Significant Investor programs need to make investments according to the Complying Investment framework (CIF).  Changes to the CIF were made in July 2021 to redirect funding towards venture capital and private growth equity as a means of supporting innovation and job creation.

From July 2021 the CIF ratios were changed and require the total investment to be apportioned as follows:

• 20 per cent venture capital and Private Growth Equity funds (VCPE)
• 30 per cent funds investing in emerging companies
• 50 per cent in balancing investments

The Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) recommends financial advice relating to investments be sourced from licensed financial professionals.  In Australia ‘financial product advice’ can be sourced from reputable financial advisors or fund managers that are holders of an Australian Financial Services License.
